Depression a real disease
Depressions occur because of many situations like
- economic
- social
- psychological and many more.
the biggest issue with depression is that a person looks pretty normal and happy but from inside he's not well i.e, mentally he's not healthy.
There are so many people in depression and they are not aware of it and if they know they are depressed they don't share it with others as there is a stigma in the society especially Indian society.
In India if you tell your parents/friends that you want to consult a psychiatrist they'll mock you as in India consulting a psychiatrist is still like a taboo and the whole perception is that only mentally unstable people consult them. and because of this stigma many people avoid going to them and seek medical help.
But now its high time that people take it seriously and consider depression as a real mental health disease.
Also, our education system should start educating our future generations about it and how to face it.
Due to this pandemic, people are getting mentally depressed but they wouldn't accept it to avoid society shame.
Tips to overcome depression:
- consult a mental health doctor and complete the therapy
- Talk to your parents and if not parents then your friends
- if there comes a situation wherein you are all alone and having negative thoughts better just go out for a walk or either play some outdoor sports and also video games.
- Don't compare yourself to anyone everyone is unique so pls stop comparing yourself to others.
- In this era of social media where there is so much negativity, I would prefer not focussing and I would just always avoid watching negative news and negative videos.
- Stop thinking about it and keep yourselves busy by doing other activities
